Risk Disclosure Statement

Please read this Risk Disclosure carefully before using the NewsFailures platform.

1. No Investment Advice

NewsFailures provides data analytics tools and informational signals only. Nothing on this platform constitutes investment advice, trading advice, a recommendation to enter or exit any position, or a solicitation to trade any futures contract, security, or other financial instrument. We are not registered as an investment adviser, commodity trading adviser (CTA), broker-dealer, or in any other advisory capacity with any regulatory authority.

You should not rely on NewsFailures signals as the sole basis for any trading decision. Always conduct your own analysis and consult a qualified financial professional before making investment decisions.

2. Futures and Commodities Trading Risk

Trading commodity futures contracts involves a high degree of risk and is not suitable for all investors. You may lose substantially more than your initial investment. Specific risks include but are not limited to:

  • Leverage risk: Futures contracts are highly leveraged instruments. Small adverse price movements can result in losses that exceed your initial margin deposit.
  • Market risk: Commodity and futures prices are influenced by factors beyond anyone’s control, including weather, geopolitical events, government policy, supply and demand, and macroeconomic conditions.
  • Liquidity risk: Some futures contracts may have limited trading volume, making it difficult to enter or exit positions at desired prices.
  • Volatility risk: Markets can move rapidly and unpredictably, particularly around major economic releases such as WASDE reports, CPI, NFP, or FOMC announcements.
  • Gap risk: Prices may open significantly higher or lower than the prior close, bypassing stop-loss orders.
  • Counterparty risk: Trading on margin involves borrowing from your broker; changes in margin requirements could force the liquidation of your positions.

3. News Failure Signal Risk

News Failure signals are identified based on a quantitative methodology that compares economic data surprises to short-term price reactions. These signals are statistical observations, not predictions. Specific risks include:

  • Signal failure: A News Failure signal does not guarantee that price will continue in the implied direction. Markets can and do move contrary to signals.
  • Timing uncertainty: Even when a signal is directionally correct, the timing of any price movement is uncertain and may not occur within any particular holding period.
  • Overfitting risk: Any quantitative methodology based on historical data carries the risk that observed patterns do not persist in future market conditions.
  • Data dependency: Signal quality depends on the accuracy and timeliness of underlying economic data releases. Revisions to reported data, data errors, or delays may affect signal integrity.
  • Sample size: The number of historical signals for any given commodity may be limited. Statistical observations based on small samples carry higher uncertainty.

4. Past Performance

Past performance of any signal, strategy, or methodology shown on this platform does not guarantee or predict future results. Historical data is presented for informational and illustrative purposes only. Any backtested or historical results have inherent limitations:

  • They do not reflect actual trading and do not account for transaction costs, slippage, margin, or taxes.
  • Historical market conditions may differ materially from future conditions.
  • Historical results are presented for illustrative purposes only and may not be representative of all signals generated.

5. No Guarantee of Accuracy

While we make reasonable efforts to ensure the accuracy and timeliness of data and signals, we do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or reliability of any information on the platform. Economic data is sourced from third-party providers and government agencies. Errors, omissions, delays, or revisions in source data may affect our analysis without prior notice.

6. You Are Solely Responsible

You are solely responsible for all trading and investment decisions you make. NewsFailures, its owners, employees, and affiliates are not responsible for any trading losses, missed opportunities, or financial harm resulting from your use of or reliance on any information provided by this platform.

7. Seek Professional Advice

Before trading futures or other complex financial instruments, consider whether trading is appropriate for your financial situation, risk tolerance, and investment objectives. Consider seeking advice from a licensed financial advisor, commodity trading adviser, or other qualified professional.

8. Regulatory Notice

Commodity futures trading in the United States is regulated by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) and the National Futures Association (NFA). NewsFailures is not registered with the CFTC or NFA. Information on registered firms and advisers is available at nfa.futures.org.
